Volunteer

The YMCA counts on volunteers to fulfill our mission. Volunteers help with youth sports, special events, fundraising and more. The YMCA is governed by a volunteer Board of Managers from each Branch and a Corporate Board of Directors.

YMCA Volunteer Form

Greeter Tour Guide

Branch: West Cabarrus
Greet members and guests as they arrive and depart the YMCA. Give tours of the Branch and assist the membership team.

Volunteer ages: 16 and up
Time commitment: 2-3 hours per week

Volunteer Coordinator

Branch: West Cabarrus
Meet new volunteers, assist with organizing their placement into the Branch and assignment duties. Assist with checking on volunteers to see how they are doing.

Volunteer ages: 18 and up
Time commitment: 2 hours per week

Y Readers

Branch: West Cabarrus
Help promote a love of literacy by reading books to our children in our Y Playhouse.

Volunteer ages: 18 and up
Time Commitment:  20 minutes per week

Fitness Room

Branch: West Cabarrus
Greet members and guests as they enter and leave the fitness room.  Assist the fitness staff with cleaning and organizing weights and equipment.

Volunteer ages: 15 and up
Time commitment: 2 hours per week

Gym Monitor

Branch: West Cabarrus
Help make sure everyone is following Cannon Memorial YMCA gym guidelines and good sportsmanship.  Raise or lower basketball goals as needed.  Hand out basketballs. *Must have strong leadership skills.

Volunteer ages: 18 and up
Time commitment:  Evenings and weekends (2-3 hours per week)

Annual Support Campaign Drive

Branch: West Cabarrus
Help hand out information to members and visitors about Cannon Y's Annual Support Campaign which provides Open Doors scholarships to those in need.

Volunteer ages: 15 and up
Time commitment: 2 hours (of actual volunteering) 1 hour (informational meeting about the campaign)

Special Events Crew

Branch: All Branches
Help set up and break down tables and chairs for events. *Must be able to lift at least 10-15 pounds and able to lift overhead.

Volunteer ages: 15 and up
Time commitment: 2 hours  * Will be contacted in advance

Special Events

Branch: West Cabarrus
Events include: Family Fun events, Daddy Daughter Dance, Parents Night Out and more. On the day of the event, provide assistance by helping to organize and set up at the Branch.

Volunteer ages: 14 and up
Time commitment: 3 hours
