A Bit About Us
Through our summer day camps, we provide kids a variety of imaginative activities that nurture their spirits, challenge their minds and make their bodies healthy and strong. Every summer we create new experiences for hundreds of kids and teens. We make sure our campers have fun while making new friends, building self-confidence and becoming more self-reliant. Our traditional summer and pre-school camps encourage kids to explore new adventures through hands-on learning. Youth can find out who they are in Teen and Leaders-in-Training (LIT) camps. Cannon Y summer camp is a safe and engaging place!
About the Staff
We staff our programs with qualified and extensively trained counselors who care about the welfare of kids. We like to call them “professional role models.” They must complete a minimum of 20 plus hours of training in areas specific to child development. Counselors learn child CPR, first aid and prevention of disease transmission. Through constructive discipline, positive reinforcement, and character development activities (devotions, games, and skits), Y counselors are great examples to these kids all summer long. Put simply, they love children.
The one-time, non-refundable registration fee per camper is $30.00. Visit our membership desk at one of our three branches for summer camp registration forms. Please bring immunization records with you at the time of registration. Registration is FREE from Monday, February 20 through Monday, March 20.
A non-refundable $25 deposit is required for each session. This fee is reduced for our YMCA Open Doors recipients. Additional siblings from the same family receive a 20 percent discount when registered in the same session.
Financial support is provided in part through contributions to the Y Annual Support Campaign. Please obtain a confidential Open Doors packet at one of our membership desks to apply and allow three to four weeks for processing.
The 2017 field trip cost is included in the camp session price. Field trips are not available for Camp Horizons Half-Pint Camp due to our inability to observe seatbelt regulations on YMCA buses for this age group. Camp Half-Pint will stay on-site at the Y for special events rather than attend off-site field trips.
At the Cannon Y, we welcome children who have moderate to intensive special needs to the inclusive environment of our everyday activities. Based on camp ratios, we cannot tailor programming to meet one-on-one needs. Please speak with a Program Director for further information.
