Why I Joined the Y...
I used to run, and I hate gyms. Or more truthfully, I am intimidated by them. When I walk into a weight room, I am just overwhelmed and don't know where to start. My days of long-distance runs on a Saturday morning are long gone and my doctor's voice was becoming louder in my ear that I should: 1. Lose weight and 2. Do weight-bearing exercises. I took a few group classes, but didn't commit - something always came up.
Finally, I decided I needed a personal trainer, someone who could plan my routine and make me accountable. I am so glad I did! I've enjoyed the experience and feel more at ease in the gym. I can concentrate on my form without always trying to catch up with others in a group class. I am forced to keep on a schedule and look forward to my sessions as I have seen improvements in my workouts. I don't know why it took me so long to start!

I joined the YMCA…
We actually joined the YMCA when I was 5 months pregnant. Since it was the middle of winter coming to the Y allowed me to be able to walk and keep up moderate cardio exercises when getting outdoors wasn’t ideal. My husband joined me in several of the water aerobic classes, which allowed for me to have some variety in my workouts.
What have the personal training session done for me….
My husband purchased the personal training sessions for me as a gift when my little one was 6 months old. I had reached my pre-baby weight but was struggling to loose any more. Meeting with a trainer twice a week has helped hold myself accountable. She has developed workout schedules and routines to help me obtain my goals. The knowledge I have gained from my trainer has allowed me to use the equipment and have productive workouts free from injury.

Why I joined the YMCA…
I joined the YMCA because I wanted to get in shape, lose some baby weight, and demonstrate a healthy lifestyle to my sons. I wanted my family to be part of a community and to enjoy all the benefits the YMCA has to offer our family including swim lessons, basketball, etc..
What have the personal training session done for me…
My personal training lessons keep me motivated and are weekly reminders that I need to stay healthy and take care of myself. So often, women lose themselves in their families - putting everyone's needs before their own. I wanted to make sure I had time for myself each week that allowed me to de-stress and focus on myself - which will in turn make me a better wife and mother. I've really enjoyed working with my trainer Amy. She understands me and provides workouts that are at the exact intensity and pace I need. I recommend personal training to anyone at any age!
