Pool Guidelines & Policies

  • The lifeguard has the authority to enforce any rule necessary to ensure a safe pool environment.
  • All persons using the swimming pool must take a soap shower before entering the pool.
  • Please keep noise level down.  Screaming and yelling are discouraged.
  • A parent or responsible adult supervisor must accompany all children under 9.
  • Non-toilet trained children must wear rubber pants or swim diaper.  Regular diapers are not allowed.
  • Coast Guard approved swimming devices only.  Inflatable devices are not allowed.
  • A responsible adult within arm’s reach must accompany all children who are non-swimmers or using Coast Guard approved flotation devices.
  • Swim attire must be appropriate and suitable for a YMCA family atmosphere.
  • Basketball shorts, nylon shorts, sports bras, t-shirts, and other cotton appearal may not be worn in the pool.
  • One piece swimsuits, tankinis or two piece swimsuits that do not tie in the back and provide full coverage are allowed.
  • Any person having an infectious or communicable disease is prohibited from using the pools.
  • Persons having open blisters, cuts, sores, etc. are not allowed to use the pools.
  • Please remove bandages before entering the water.
  • Spitting, spouting water, blowing nose or discharging body waste in the pool is strictly prohibited.
  • Please walk in the pool area.
  • Please dispose of food, drink and gum before swimming.
  • Diving is not allowed.
  • Glass is not allowed in the pool area.
  • Hair longer than 3” must be tied back or secured with a swim cap.
  • Horseplay, dunking, pushing and jumping toward side of the pool are not permitted.
  • Noodles, weights, barbells and other YMCA pool equipment are for exercise and instructional classes only.
  • Lap lanes, kickboards and leg buoys are for swimmers only.
  • If 2 or more swimmers are in a lap lane, please circle swim.
  • Diving blocks are for swim teams and instructional use only.
  • Please stay off of lane lines and lifelines.
  • Emergency telephone is located on pool wall.

YMCAs in Rowan and Cabarrus Counties will Join Together

The boards of directors of the YMCA of Rowan County and Cannon Memorial YMCA of Cabarrus County have voted to merge effective January 1, 2020. The new Association will be called Rowan-Cabarrus YMCA.
